Filecoin Interoperability Network is coming online. Do you know it?
According to the official roadmap, although the official postponed the second phase of the test and the mainnet launch, it also advanced part of the second phase.
- From the latest Gantt chart, the tentative advance contents are (US time):
- Interoperable network involving Lotus and go-filecoin, March 9-April 17
- Finalizing the Economic Structure of Cryptocurrencies, April 17
- Finalize Proof Structure, April 17
- Finalize hardware recommendations for mainnet, April 17
The content of this part, I will briefly explain for everyone.

01 Interoperability Network
The main idea is that the realization of interoperability is crucial to the security of the entire network. So far, the official team has basically achieved complete interoperability in lotus and go-filecoin, so it plans to launch a new version to test the interoperable network within this time period. Once this test has achieved what they want to accomplish, they will launch four interoperable web versions in a few weeks (lotus, go-filecoin, forest, and fuhon). What does interoperability mean? This means that in the future, the four main versions of the main network will be able to be implemented, then we can enter the same network and obtain the same data through different implementations. This can ensure that when one of the implementations fails, there are still alternatives to continue to provide access services for us. Finally, the availability, stability and security of the network are guaranteed. This is a very important step for the entire network, so the official team has given enough time at this point-more than a month.
02 Cryptocurrency Economic Structure
This should be the most important issue for both miners and investors. It was originally included in the second phase of the test, and now it is also being carried out in the test that starts immediately.
Official current progress: The team has made significant progress in structure, reducing the mechanisms and parameters that can make the network consistent over time. Also, extensive simulations have begun to verify and finalize the structure. This means that the economic structure of FIL has been basically completed, and now it is just taking some time to verify whether the completed structure can meet expectations. At the same time, the official team is currently considering adding economic leverage, here is an official list (incomplete):
Block reward generation function: The parameters may change over time, including the exponent of the block reward decay function.
Functions and reductions of pledge guarantees: Pledge guarantees need to meet certain security constraints to reach consensus, so they need to be re-evaluated.
Transaction guarantee requirements: The minimum transaction guarantee can be adjusted to achieve an appropriate incentive structure.
Interactive PoRep Penalty: If validation fails in Interactive PoRep, some penalties may be introduced.
Network transaction fee: Burned as a network fee at the time of certification or txn submission.
Minimum miner size: The minimum sector size that the storage miner can produce blocks. Several security and scalability parameters depend on this.
03 Proof Structure
This is actually in the official previous article "What makes Filecoin so different? Filecoin's Proof System has already mentioned some official optimizations in proof.
The official team developed an efficient implementation of the Poseidon hash function in Rust and integrated it into the proof protocol and library. At the same time, they also carried out circuit optimization in zero-knowledge proofs, which doubled the proof speed. Ultimately, these and other optimizations work together to increase the speed and performance of SDR PoRep implementations. This means that when these optimizations are fully implemented, in the second stage of testing and even in the main network, the verification speed and burst speed of our miners will be further improved.
04 Mainnet hardware recommendations
This is the problem that miners are most concerned about at present. Now the official roadmap has also clearly answered: Although it is tentatively scheduled for April 17, the clarity is always better than vague. I believe that if the next stage of testing is not a big problem, the mainnet hardware can be released as scheduled.
At present, the test is still in progress, and the standard hardware is still unknown. So please continue to wait patiently if you want to buy children's shoes for the mining machine. After all, the cost of the mining machine and the subsequent hardware replacement are also a lot.
Therefore, although the official team seems to have postponed the second phase of testing, they are not exactly delays, but rather advance the key tests in the second phase. Once these tests are completed at this stage in March, the next two stages will be able to proceed more smoothly. This also means that, as long as this phase can be successfully completed, the main network can go online as scheduled.
