Hacker's "honeypot": the exchange has been stolen 1.36 billion US dollars, accounting for 59.2% in 2018 alone
Bitrue, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange, today announced a hacking attack that cost $4.3 million worth of XRP and Cardano (ADA) tokens.
Bitrue revealed details of the invasion on Twitter on Thursday, the exchange said that a hacker entered the exchange's "hot wallet", which will have 9.3 million XRP (about $4.04 million) and 2.5 million. The ADA (approximately $235,000) was transferred to a different exchange.
The company added that the current situation “is under control and that all lost funds will be returned to the user, and we are reviewing our security measures and policies to ensure that this does not happen again”.

Approximately 90 Bitu users have been affected, and the exchange has issued an alert to the exchange that received these stolen cryptocurrencies.
“Now we are conducting an urgent inspection of the exchange and hope to resume login and trading functions as soon as possible. As we continue to investigate, the withdrawal service will be offline for a longer period of time.”
Bitrue also contacted the relevant authorities in Singapore to help find hackers.
Just last month, Bince, a cryptocurrency exchange, was hacked and lost 7,000 bitcoins, which was worth about $40 million.
According to The Block's research, coupled with today's Bitrue hacking incident, the total amount of financial losses suffered by various cryptocurrency transactions was close to $1.36 billion.
Among them, 59.2% in 2018 and 5.4% in 2019.
