Microsoft Tanlin: Web3.0 era, breaking the data island, blockchain to return the Internet to the heart | Babbit College Open Course Record

In the third issue of the "Frontline, Famous Enterprise Blockchain Series" special class in May, our keynote speaker was Beijing Lin Liang, the CEO of Microsoft Accelerator.

Mr. Tanlin has more than 20 years of IT industry experience, international company's early experience in localized product development in the Chinese market, local entrepreneurial and international entrepreneurial experience and early investment experience.

In this open class, Tan Lin started from the law of human society development, explaining the historical mission of the web 3.0 era, and the new technology combination paradigm of the Web 3.0 era, the Internet of Things + blockchain + artificial intelligence will bring The transformation of social applications.

The following is a representative of the college class, for the refining of the course dry goods for everyone!

Reading time is about 10 minutes~

Hello everyone, I am Microsoft accelerator Tanlin. Thanks to the invitation of Babbitt College, I am here to share with you the research and views on the Web3.0 era. My topic of sharing today is "Web3.0 Towers and Squares".

  1. What is Web3.0? What are the problems with the current Internet?
  2. After the integration of blockchain, artificial intelligence and IoT technology, what practical applications will be brought to the fore?

These are the topics we are discussing today.

twenty one

In order to better understand web3.0, we first look at a model of human society development – TIMN model.

1

Tribes is the meaning of primitive tribes. In primitive tribes, the composition of society, communication and relationships are mainly based on language and storytelling.

Homo sapiens is the only species of all other erect races that can tell stories, so Homo sapiens defeats all other erect races, which means we have more outstanding language skills;

Later, there were structural organizations such as towns, governments, and the military, that is, I (Institutions), in which language was developed, such as text and printing, which was a very important tool for building organizations;

Then to M (Markets), the market, the cities like the Middle Ages basically belong to the market, the city is also the city before the city, corresponding to the real economy, such as the securities market of Wall Street, online e-commerce stores, etc. are market-oriented Organizational structure, that is, radiating outward from a center;

The future to N (Networks), the multi-dimensional networked social organization structure.

In the social organization of the network, there are some points that can be connected, which we call key hub nodes.

At present, the three giants in China and some Internet companies are separated from each other. Baidu's search engine cannot search for content in WeChat or today's headlines, so the current enterprises are all built around their own ecology.

twenty two

Let's take a look at the book "Plaza and Towers" by Neil Ferguson, a British historian. The tower symbolizes the hierarchy from top to bottom, and the square is free flowing, representing the network.

The picture below is the architecture of an Internet company, like a modern tower.

2

The original Internet hopes to make information more freely shared to humans, but today's Internet environment is becoming an increasingly closed "data tower", or we call this a panoramic prison.

All the data about this person is concentrated on this data tower, which can monitor all the people in the square, so he has in some sense become a panoramic prison.

The giant Internet company with "data tower" monopolizes all kinds of information such as relationships, behaviors and identity information of all people, and all we get is the quotation mark, the so-called "do not be evil" promise.

So where are we going? The most critical issue here is – trust.

3

Twitter co-founder, some time ago said that his original intention to create Twitter is to make the whole world better, and to exchange information and ideas more freely through the Internet. But for now, he thinks he is wrong.

why? For example, Trump, the US president, can cross traditional media and more easily concentrate power and influence through Twitter. Of course, it is easier to manipulate the public and do evil, whether it is distorting facts or concentrating rights.

4

twenty three

We are now in a critical transition period from the Web 2.0 era to the Web 3.0 era.

Everyone knows that the content of websites and platforms in the Web 2.0 era is mainly provided by users, such as Weibo, WeChat, Facebook, and Instagram.

The content we looked at above was published by other users. This is Web 2.0, but the content and data released are absorbed and occupied by the “tower”.

The concept of Web 3.0, strictly speaking, the definition of consensus is reached in the scientific and technological community, but basically you can understand it as a new way of network interaction.

Because in the Web 3.0 era, we want users' data ownership to be in their own hands and can be used on different websites. For example, if you post content on WeChat or today's headlines, unless you manually synchronize it, several platforms cannot be referenced to each other.

Web3.0 is actually a modification from "high-tower Internet +" to "square blockchain +".

This is also my interpretation of this book. In the description of "Plaza and Tower", the medieval city has a tower and a square, which is equivalent to the form of the Web1.0 period, the tower is used to publish information. For the entire square, this is similar to the early Internet business form of one-way communication.

Later, many city-states were connected by road networks and institutions (religion, politics, and economy) and became a bordered nation-state. It became a form similar to Web 2.0. Information can be spread and shared along certain routes within certain boundaries. But will focus on several key hubs.

Web3.0 is a higher-dimensional form. Each point of this form is connected. Data can be shared fairly equitably between each point. Collaboration can be initiated at any point. A higher-dimensional P2P collaborative network, we call it a high-dimensional + fractal value network, that is, a community-based enterprise.

5

twenty four

The social enterprise structure of the future Web3.0 era should be that every individual who contributes data is the true owner of this data.

Individuals can participate in each piece of data and gain value in the community. This is the true sense of the shared economy.

Moreover, this interest guarantee mechanism is not based on the morality of a noble entrepreneur, or the endorsement of the government that controls everyone, but the protection of personal data property rights realized by technology.

Now everyone understands why Google’s slogan is “Do not be evil”?

Because they are too wicked, they have to remind them to do evil at all times, and some Internet companies have not even slogans that remind them to do evil.

6

The kernel of Web3.0 is actually a semantic network, which is a combination of three technologies: blockchain, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things.

Blockchain can help build: A mechanism that guarantees trust and value delivery based on algorithms that enables this large-scale collaborative and interactive network to operate.

The Internet of Things can make connections more complete, data collection is more real-time, and artificial intelligence can automate and intelligentize data processing. The combination of these technologies will bring about changes in the new business model and upgrade of the application paradigm in the Web 3.0 era. From a centralized application form to a distributed application form.

7

25

Let's take a look at what is the Web 3.0 application that returns to the Internet?

Everyone knows that the Internet giants in the Web 2.0 era, whether Amazon, Apple, or domestic Tencent, Ali, and Xiaomi are centralized structures. Every click data you go online will be recorded and mastered by these giants. In fact, most people don't pay attention to it. They just enjoy the quick and convenient service, but they feel privacy violations when the data is stolen, such as Facebook's scandal of abusing 50 million user data.

Until the blockchain technology emerged, new business models and new application structures were created. The founder of Brave tried to build a new browser using distributed blockchain technology.

Because every online behavior of the browser, every click data will be recorded and returned to the platform such as Google. The data that doesn't let you click on the Internet is beyond your scope. Your data belongs to you personally. It is distributed on the blockchain node and will not do centralized data analysis and processing for Internet companies like Google. It is equivalent to giving the entire power to the individual.

8

26

So what is the secret of Web 3.0? It is to embed the circular economy into the multilateral network platform of positive incentives.

The core of the platform business model is “two hands”, that is, users include consumers and service providers . Web3.0 is equivalent to building a platform. The more providers provide, the more consumers will attract more people to provide services on the platform, resulting in a "flywheel effect" and finally becoming a platform economy.

However, there was a problem in the platform economy of the Web 2.0 era. The people who built the platform (square + tower) will eventually become a “data tower” because of their own interests, resulting in a monopoly on data and free circulation of information in the square. Obstruction.

In the Web 3.0 era, the proportion of squares and towers needs to be re-adjusted. It is not determined by some authoritative entrepreneurs, but members of all communities must become participants. You contribute services or consumer services. Gain value recognition based on blockchain protection to reflect the value of your contribution in the community.

9

10

27

We combined the technologies of blockchain, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence to find that this is a new paradigm that can become the new economic infrastructure of the future. This is Web3.0.

5G will promote the Web 3.0 era, the landing of various distributed intelligent application scenarios, and automatic data collection.

Moreover, all transmission encryption cannot be tampered with to support the traceability and auditability of the data life cycle, and the regulatory rules are embedded in a smart contract, which has created a new business model.

11

12

Let's look at a few scenarios in the Web 3.0 era (Internet of Things + Artificial Intelligence + Blockchain).

UBI car insurance

In the past, there were also vehicle-mounted IoT sensors, which automatically collected the collected driving behaviors and emissions data into the background for processing. However, the original centralized background could not effectively share data with multiple organizations in a low-cost, secure and real-time manner.

If the insurance company does not provide personalized and scenario insurance according to your own needs, because the data it obtains is lagging and non-continuous, but if the data can be passed through the alliance chain, it will be provided to the insurance company and the transportation department in real time. The data will produce even greater value.

For example, the US insurance company Progressive uses OBD to automatically collect data in real time (such as mileage, driving time, speed, acceleration braking, driving behavior, etc.) and provide personalized insurance through blockchain smart contracts.

13

Previous insurance based on similar groups, to establish a relatively thick model, future insurance can build a more accurate model based on personal data, and the cost of the car insurance, for individuals reduced by 30%, for insurance companies can also improve Service Level.

14

Personalized travel service

Airlines, in the future, can use the blockchain to do Ctrip's work, build hotels, rent a car, etc. into an alliance store, and the data is interoperable. For example, if your plane is late, the smart contract will automatically notify the hotel and directly handle the late check-in. Or arranging rooms, etc. These are smart contracts for nested affiliate stores that can help solve things.

15

Autopilot and drone logistics

The following picture shows the automated cold chain logistics. The vaccine is sent from the laboratory, to the vaccine production and packaging center, to the drug center, and finally to the hospital pharmacy. The whole process (transport, storage, distribution) must ensure the environment. Temperature and humidity meet the requirements. How is this done?

After the vaccine produced by the laboratory passes the test, it enters the vaccine production and packaging center, and automatically encrypts and uploads the data in the vaccine production and distribution environment through the Internet of Things and sensors, which is equivalent to data collection from the source;

In the transportation process, through the intelligent contract definition and sensor data collection, the temperature of the vaccine package is controlled to a contract range of less than 10o C, the ambient humidity is less than 65%, and the data is automatically transmitted to the chain, including driving on the GDS. The data such as mileage and location can be collected, then sorted at the regional drug center, and then delivered to the next vaccine cold chain.

If there is a violation of the regulations in a cold chain distribution of a vaccine, the smart contract terms will be triggered, and the batch of vaccines will be abolished, and the manufacturers responsible for this link will be automatically responsible for the link according to the smart contract. , make punishments, and notify the regulators that are also on the chain.

16

This is a very valuable application, and we can take another step forward in this application, based on artificial intelligence + IoT + blockchain fusion technology to combat counterfeit drugs.

At present, in domestic fourth- and fifth-tier cities, and in many developing countries, counterfeit drugs account for 10% to 30% of total drugs sold. In China alone, about 200,000 people die each year from taking fake medicines, which is twice the number of deaths in traffic accidents nationwide.

The blockchain + intelligent unmanned pharmacy can help pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies to effectively carry out anti-counterfeiting and safe traceability of drugs and save lives!

17

Work environment security

Under high-pressure working environment (such as high temperature, high pollution, high altitude, etc.), the mood will be unstable for a long time, and some risks and threats will occur. These data are collected and transmitted to the chain, while the enterprise, insurance institution, and rescue Organizations and so on are on the chain, so you can respond in time to an emergency.

11

Sharing summary

Finally, let's make a summary.

We can understand Web 3.0 as a new way of interacting with the Internet. In the Web 3.0 era, users' data ownership is in their own hands and can be used on different websites.

From the perspective of the way information is used, the essence of Web 1.0 is federation. The essence of Web 2.0 is interaction. Web 3.0 can be understood as “personalization” and “personalized management”.

Web3.0 will return the data obtained from the individual to the individual. The right to dispose of is the individual. The individual can use it for the doctor or the service organization. The whole process can be audited and tracked to protect the security and value of the personal data assets.

19

The following picture is Alexander the Great. Web3.0 makes the various problems faced by the Web2.0 era no longer a problem. The problem of the previously entangled "squares and towers" is like the result of Goldie. The child has been cut off, which requires the "Jianan Web 3.0 Sword" of the three technologies of Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.
