Crypto Injuries at ApeFest: Lights Out for Investors

ApeFest attendees report suffering from 'extreme pain' and vision problems post-event

ApeFest-goers suffer ‘pain’ and vision issues after event.

Ah, the thrill of attending a blockchain event! The vibrant atmosphere, the buzzing crowd, and of course, the blinding lights that leave you practically burnt crispy. Wait, what?

Yes, you heard that right. Attendees of Yuga Labs’ ApeFest in Hong Kong are reporting more than just a few eye-opening experiences. They’re reporting burns, damaged vision, and “extreme pain” in their eyes, all courtesy of the event’s questionable lighting choices. Ouch.

One unfortunate soul, CryptoJune, took to Twitter to share their harrowing ordeal: “Woke up in the middle of the night after ApeFest with so much pain in my eyes that I had to go to the hospital.” Talk about a wild night out. Turns out, the doctor blamed the UV from the stage lights, leaving CryptoJune wondering how in the world they ended up accusing innocent lamps. Public enemy number one: lights that weren’t playing it safe. Who would’ve thought?

But hold your crypto horses, there’s more. Another attendee, going by the name Feld, had an eerily similar tale: “Anyone else’s eyes burning from last night? Woke up at 3am with extreme pain and ended up in the ER.” Talk about an unforgettable night. These stories are piling up like the blockchain itself.

Now, before you start thinking this is an isolated incident, think again. At least 15 other brave souls have come forward on social media, all singing the same eye-aching tune. It seems that these vision-related concerns were limited to those who were up close and personal with the stage lights. What can we say? The sacrifices people make for the perfect Instagram shot.

Yuga Labs, the organizers of the event, have yet to respond to the accusations. Maybe they’re too busy counting their NFTs or hunting down rogue apes. Who knows?

But hey, this isn’t the first time Hong Kong partygoers have been caught in the crosshairs of improper UV lighting. Back in 2017, attendees at a shindig hosted by streetwear brand HypeBeast experienced the same painful burns and eye damage. Can’t catch a break, can they?

It turns out that the culprit in both cases was none other than good old UV radiation. Think of it as a villainous beam of light, ready to blind you and leave you clutching your eyes in agony. They even have a fancy name for it: photokeratitis, a.k.a “Welder’s eye.” It’s caused by prolonged exposure to extreme levels of UV radiation, whether it’s from artificial sources like sketchy lamps or, believe it or not, the bright sunlight bouncing off snow. Talk about a double-edged sword, or should we say a double-edged ray of sunshine?

So, my fellow digital asset enthusiasts, let this be a cautionary tale. Remember to keep a safe distance from those dazzling lights at your next crypto gathering. Your eyes will thank you, and your investment decisions will be all the wiser. Stay safe out there, and see you on the blockchain!
