Is the autonomous world not a new paradigm, but rather the GameFi for conservative players who value experience and form?

Is the Autonomous World Merely GameFi for Traditionalists Seeking Experience and Stability, Not a Revolutionary Paradigm?

A few days ago, I posted a picture on Twitter titled “What is gamefi,” which sparked some discussions.

This picture was posted by my good friend @0xTykoo, and it sarcastically completes the missing piece of gamefi – Autonomous World.

In this picture, AW meets two conditions: the conservative experience (gamefi must be a game) and the conservative form (it must run entirely on the blockchain).

Is Autonomous World not a new paradigm, but a conservative GameFi in terms of experience and form?

Actually, this is my fourth article about AW and Gamefi.

The first one was written after the closing of ChinaJoy2023. At that time, I attended many parties named after blockchain games on the Bund and had a lot of discussions with game developers such as Oasys, Ubisoft, Blade, and Sanqi.

The second and third articles were inspired by 0xLianGuaiRC’s Autonomous Worlds Network. In “DAW (Decentralized Autonomous World) Will Be the Next Narrative on the Blockchain?” and “LLoreMs, Building Decentralized On-chain Narratives,” I expressed my views on Autonomous World from the perspectives of definition and narrative.

Is Autonomous World not a new paradigm, but a conservative GameFi in terms of experience and form?

I really like the articles on the official website of the AutonomousWorlds Network project, although there are hardly any translations. Its dissemination in the Chinese-speaking community is limited. However, it discusses the operational logic and design philosophy of Autonomous World from philosophical, physical, and engineering perspectives.

A question from @lumentaier made me think again about what exactly Autonomous World is:

“Data on the chain during the development of the world, the public can have cognitive disputes about the data. Through this data dispute, a preliminary understanding of the truth is established. Then, when other data is connected to this data in the future, the understanding of the data strengthens step by step in different times and spaces, establishing a real shadow of the real world, like the world tree?”

Is Autonomous World not a new paradigm, but a conservative GameFi in terms of experience and form?

After two days of contemplation, here is my personal opinion:

Thoughts on Autonomous World:

The current stage of Autonomous World is a game based on rules on the blockchain, which can be compared to the physics rules in our real world.

Here, every player must create based on these rules but can innovate to the maximum extent within the rules, just like this world – if we must have a game reference, it would be the highly decentralized and free-to-play “Minecraft.”

Players can freely trade and create narratives based on the parent rules.

The emphasis is on trading and freely creating narratives.

A fully decentralized world definitely needs a trading system to ensure its perpetual operation.

Narrative is the essence of creativity. LLoreMs (LargeLore Models) is a tool used to build decentralized on-chain narratives.

Essentially, the autonomous world utilizes the autonomy and transparency of the underlying blockchain world to infuse the rigidity and objectivity of the physical reality we share into the virtual reality we share.

Thoughts on LLoreMs:

Autonomous Knowledge Commons is a decentralized way of organizing and collecting distributed narratives.

Its essence lies in avoiding the monopolization of highly influential data and distributing more weight to collect and store data in a more equal manner, achieving equal rights for everyone.

By doing so, a shadow of the real world will be formed based on scale, but whether we can achieve that next step is hard to say.

Is the autonomous world not a new paradigm, but a conservative form of GameFi?
