Overnight, the entire Chinese-language media was discussing Telegram Bots. As one of the few builders in the Chinese community on Ton, I would like to briefly discuss this topic.

Telegram is becoming a super app like WeChat, but it is more open than WeChat, which is something to be happy about. In the future, we will definitely see more and more scenarios on Telegram bots, and it is not an exaggeration to say that everything we see on WeChat will also be seen on Telegram. These ecosystems will create a flywheel, exponentially increasing user stickiness and time consumption on Telegram.

The bots we see now do not truly leverage Telegram’s capabilities; they simply move traditional web-based interactions to mobile. This logic is similar to the transition from the internet to mobile internet, and then from apps to mini-programs. But in the blue ocean stage, this is enough.

Telegram’s core capabilities in the crypto field will not be open to Ethereum. The wallet solutions we currently see only include custody and calling Metamask, neither of which are optimal solutions. The most direct core capability, built-in wallets and APIs, will only be provided to its own Ton.

A truly complete Telegram Bots experience will appear on Ton. The current bots experience is incomplete because they do not have the ability to access users’ assets (not your private key, not your assets), and this is exactly the problem we expect Ton to solve. The Ton wallet built into Telegram is already in the testing phase, and some people (including myself) have already seen demos. This is the real complete experience of Bots, where users interact with bots, initiate requests, access wallets, and complete transactions smoothly.

It is easier for high-frequency to compete with low-frequency than for low-frequency to compete with high-frequency. As a super high-frequency scenario, it is much easier for social platforms to encroach into the financial scene than for financial platforms to integrate social features. Don’t believe it? Think about Alipay’s efforts to compete with WeChat on the social front, do you still remember the “Lifestyle Circle” that was involved in a pornography scandal?

Instead of expecting Ethereum to create a decentralized social platform, it is better to bet on Ton, which is building a decentralized financial layer on Telegram.

We will continue to update Blocking; if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us!
