Ethereum 2.0: Ethereum's bumpy road

Recent Ethereum seems to be a bit of a bad time.

First, Ethereum 2.0 was fully launched because the technical difficulty seemed to have to be postponed. Then, members of the original founder team of Ethereum chose to cash out in such a downturn.

These make many friends very worried about whether Ethereum has a future. Will its future come as planned by Vitalik?

Li Xiaolai also expressed his views on Ethereum in two recent articles "Some Friendly Reminders on the Application of Blockchain":

"In history, the most notorious example is Ethereum. After thinking that it was on the ground, system vulnerabilities appeared very quickly, so it had to be" hard-forked ", leaving behind a hitherto no one knows what it can do. "Ethereum Classic" (ETC) that can only be played by speculators "

"It is said that Ethereum will switch from POW to POS again in 2020-then the current chain will become another ETC … What about so many things on Ethereum now? The project side's statement is fancy, and the translation is" How do I know what to do? Can't care anymore … I don't care! "

Both of Li Xiaolai's comments were technically inaccurate.

What Li Xiaolai said about the hard fork in the history of Ethereum was the famous attack on The DAO. Many people talk about this. So far, they believe that it was attacked because of a problem with Ethereum itself, but in fact, it was because of a problem with The DAO smart contract (not Ethereum) that hackers seized the opportunity. It's like a drunk driver driving a highly acclaimed Volvo car in a traffic accident, and the responsibility must lie with the driver, not the car.

Because The DAO has been highly anticipated, so after being hacked, the entire community is emotionally unacceptable, so Vitalik had to lead Ethereum to carry out a hard fork, leaving this forever controversial in history. event.

After Ethereum 2.0 switched from POW to POS, the current Ethereum, that is, Ethereum 1.0, will not become another ETC as Li Xiaolai said, but there are already many solutions. The latest solution given by Vitalik is to change the current Ethereum into a part of Ethereum 2.0, instead of abandoning the current Ethereum, so there is no so-called "don't care", "don't care".

Ethereum 2.0 may be postponed due to technical difficulties. It has always been a very high probability thing. Last year, when some members of the Ethereum community optimistically estimated that Ethereum 2.0 might be fully launched by the end of 2021, I used to write that if this was the case, it would be a very thankful thing, and it still looks too optimistic. Already.

As for the former founding members who sold Ethereum at such a low price, many investors think that even the core members are selling. Is this a prelude to the project's end?

I don't think you need to worry about it. Since the development of Ethereum, the core team has been rotated many times, and it has little to do with the earliest founding team.

The blockchain public chain is an open source project. The so-called open source is freedom and tolerance. Someone can join or exit at any time. So is Ethereum. In the development process of Ethereum, its concept is constantly updated, and there must be some colleagues who once did not agree with the ideas behind it, and there must be new colleagues who agree with the ideas behind it. Those who do n’t agree with it will sell if they are not optimistic about the future, and those who agree with it will buy when they are optimistic about the future. Both phenomena are normal.

Is there a future for Ethereum? The most important thing about an investment project is to look at people.

Ma Yun said that he invested in a team that preferred to invest in second-rate projects rather than a second-rate team. why? Because first-class teams can make first-rate projects first-class, and second-class teams can mess up first-class projects.

So is Ethereum. Although Ethereum is an open source project and many teams are co-developing it, there is no doubt that Vitalik is the core of this project, is the spiritual leader, and steers the direction and philosophy of Ethereum. He has a significant influence on the development of Ethereum, so how Vitalik's behavior will definitely affect the future of Ethereum .

I have contacted Vitalik on many occasions and contacted other project leaders on multiple occasions, but Vitalik always has a temperament that is rare among other project leaders, that is, a persistent and innocent pursuit of ideas and technology .

On any occasion, as long as someone talks to him about technology, he will immediately rush; he personally answers and discusses questions raised by friends in various communities including the Chinese WeChat group of Ethereum 2.0; travels around and discusses issues In his free time, he is also heavily involved in the development of Ethereum source code.

This attachment and this enthusiasm make me admire heartily. I can hardly imagine how Ethereum might not succeed under the leadership of such a spiritual leader? If such projects are unsuccessful, what other projects can succeed ?

Of course, the future is bright, but the road is always winding. The future of Ethereum is not destined to be flat, and it will definitely experience strong winds and waves, but I believe there will be a firm force in the underworld to propel this ship forward and lead it to the waves .
