Reflections on Shanghai Blockchain Week Mainland Web3 Thrives in the Sunlight, Darkness Lurks

Author: LianGuai Moon

1. Last week I thought Token2049 was over, but I didn’t expect Shanghai to freeze me to death. Without excessive criticism, it is hard to imagine that any blockchain week in China could do better under this market condition and regulation.

2. Prudence and compliance are deeply rooted. Unlike the diverse and mixed plate of foreign Web3, Shanghai’s Web3 embodies rigor, moderation, security, and conservatism.

3. The power of DAO and the community should not be underestimated. As important nodes connecting various parties, they tirelessly activate the industry atmosphere, blend industry resources, and shine in the bear market.

4. The end of making money is metaphysics. The biggest shock of the trip to Shanghai came from being recommended fortune-telling by programmer friends. In my opinion, this is the representative of materialism. Facing the field of Web3, which integrates wealth, another kind of expectation and interpretation is also needed.

5. There is nothing new under the sun, but I still need to read more books. By following a fixed business model and repeatedly walking the old path, you can repeatedly achieve success. Perhaps the details may change, but the laws of business remain the same.

6. Innovation is insignificant, and the essence of investment is still investing in people. There will be no technological innovations in the short term, and the stories in the whitepaper have long been told too many times. Investors are cautious and value reliable teams the most, followed by preliminary data.

7. Sincerity + marketing skills are the ultimate weapon. Big Brother has mastered this skill well. I should publish a book and memorize it by heart.

8. Deeply rooted in the local market, foreign countries really have no involvement at all. Forget it, even Chinese projects are fleeing. What am I still hoping for?

9. Some traditional industries are venturing into Web3, but they tend to avoid using the term “Web3” and prefer “metaverse” or “blockchain”. I need to learn the new industry jargon and put it in my bag of tricks.

End of the Shanghai trip, see you in Hong Kong~
