Developer’s Guide How to Build Products on the Base Mainnet?
Guide to Building Products on Base MainnetBase is a secure, low-cost, developer-friendly Ethereum Layer 2 solution built on top of the OP Stack. Since Base launched its testnet in late February, it has established connections with many excellent developers and witnessed their thriving development on Base.
Now, the Base mainnet is open to developers. The first phase of the mainnet allows developers to deploy their products on Base and prepare for the public launch in early August, when the on-chain services will be open to billions of users.
During this phase, real-time support is provided in the #base-developers channel on Base Discord, and the “Genesis Builder” NFT is launched to commemorate those who joined us from the beginning.
You can start building your product by accessing the documentation:
- World Engine A sharding Rollup framework designed for full-chain games
- The inevitable outcome of Non-EVM public chains? Analyzing the reasons for the decline of ICP from multiple perspectives
- Latest developments in the Curve incident Has the crisis been resolved? Does the founder have to sell coins and pay off debts?
- Base Network RPC: In this phase, you can access the Base mainnet RPC via developer-access-mainnet.base.org. After our public launch in early August, mainnet.base.org will become the mainnet RPC. These endpoints have rate limits and are not suitable for production use. For production applications, we recommend running your own node or accessing nodes through any of the following providers.
- Base Network ETH Bridge: In this phase, there will be no publicly available bridge user interface. Developers can use the portal proxy contract to bridge ETH to Base for gas fees for deployment. You can find this contract and learn how to use it in the complete guide. Note: Do not send any assets other than ETH to the portal proxy contract.
There are now some tools available for developers on the Base mainnet:
- Node Providers: including Blockdaemon, QuickNode, and Blast.
- Smart Wallet Infrastructure: Safe Wallet.
- Block Explorers: Basescan and Blockscout.
- Data Indexers: including The Graph, Goldsky, and Covalent.
- Developer Tools: Thirdweb.
We can’t wait to see what products you will develop on Base.
Inviting all developers: Become a Genesis Builder
We believe that developers on Base will create next-generation products that will bring billions of users to the blockchain. Therefore, we welcome developers to launch their products on the Base mainnet immediately and offer our real-time support and attention.
To celebrate our earliest Base developers, we have launched the Genesis Builder NFT, a non-transferable NFT designed by artist Klara Vollstaedt, whose work “The Fall” was recently exhibited at Christie’s auction. The Genesis Builder NFT is a permanent record of your early support for the Base mission of bringing the world onto the blockchain. We will also use this record to ensure that Genesis Builders receive all the support they need to build on Base, including practical support through dedicated Discord channels with the Base team.
To obtain the Genesis Builder NFT, the dApp must be deployed on Base and complete the on-chain application on builder.base.org. The Genesis Builder NFT has three batches corresponding to different deployment periods:
🥇Gold: Submit eligible applications before the mainnet GA in early August
🥈Silver Medal: Submit eligible applications before the end of August
🥉Bronze Medal: Submit eligible applications before the end of September
To obtain the Genesis Builder NFT, start deploying your dApp on Base today and join us on the mainnet in early August.
Starting now:
- Deploy your dApp contract
- Verify and publish the contract source code through Basescan
- Submit the contract for decoding through Dune
- Connect your deploying wallet to builder.base.org and fill out the form (<2min)
- When the mainnet GA is released in early August, do not deploy your frontend interface. We will open Base to everyone at that time
When the mainnet GA is released in early August:
- Deploy your dApp frontend on Base
- Share with the community on Discord / Twitter (@BuildOnBase)
- Check your wallet in the following weeks to see if you have received the Genesis Builder NFT
- Connect your wallet and Discord to Base Guild, granting you access to dedicated Discord channels
Create “Base is for builders” today
If you haven’t already, we invite you to explore the Base network and create “Base is for builders,” a commemorative NFT to celebrate this moment. The creation has already begun and will run until 11 am on August 13. There are no additional fees apart from the gas cost for minting. To earn this NFT:
- Read the Base mainnet genesis block message (hint: extraData)
- Sign the message using EIP-191 (version 0x45)
- Submit this signature to the mint function of the NFT contract to mint the “Base is for builders” NFT*
You can find the contract on Basescan or Blockscout.
Note: There is no frontend interface for minting, please call the contract directly using developer tools. Use any third-party interfaces and/or tools at your own risk.
We are excited to build the future on the blockchain together.
We will continue to update Blocking; if you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us!
