At a press conference on October 28th, the non-profit organization Linux Foundation announced that the Linux Foundation is building a new project with the support of several major industry giants such as Dell, Iota Foundation and IBM. The project's partners also include MobiledgeX and global IT company Unisys.

The project uses the code of Dell Technologies to build the concept of Data Confidence Fabric, which can be used to detect data from multiple sources and score data based on credibility and reliability.

Jason Shepherd, CTO of Dell, said data credibility ratings can help organizations meet different compliance requirements, such as the EU's general data protection regulations.

Other companies are also developing data credibility rating tools

As more and more sensitive data is placed on the blockchain, different organizations and industry participants are developing ways to verify the source and reliability of recorded data.

In July of this year, the Japanese technology research company Fujitsu Laboratories announced that it has developed a blockchain-based system for evaluating user credentials, identity and credibility in online transactions.

The platform will allow users who complete the transaction to score each other and match the next transaction target to the user based on the rating.

Iota and its partners

At the end of September, Iota established a partnership with the Linux Foundation through LF Edge, an umbrella organization that aims to create an open, interoperable framework independent of hardware, silicon, cloud or operating system for edge computing. .

Earlier this month, Iota also worked with the open source platform Fiware to apply its Tangle technology to smart solutions, and Fiware intends to distribute data across distributed devices by deploying Tangle on its devices.
