A radical experiment on a billboard: welcome to a world without real right

introduction

This experiment, seriously speaking, is about the exploration of the impact of the Habge tax on property rights, usage rights and social relations (@#¥%……&*&…%¥#@???). The light and happy version is to give you a temporary stage, only allowed to express in words, how do you start your performance? How would you use your performance to attract more traffic and increase the price of resale to the next user?

Previously there was an experimental project on Harberger Tax overseas called "This Art is Always on Sale", which was represented by a digital artist as "this art is always on sale" The text of this text is made by the digital art provided by the auction and artist taxation platform. The person participating in the auction needs to pay the price given by the previous owner, mark the price sold to the next buyer, and deposit a certain amount of deposit into the project for the subsequent tax payment (marked price 5 %). When the deposit balance is insufficient to pay the project's tax, the smart contract will force the redemption of the artwork, at which point the price will be zero and will start again because there is no next buyer. The main purpose of the project is to explore the impact of the Habge tax on property rights and social relationships (between art, artists and buyers).

Artist taxation? This concept doesn't sound too good to understand, so let's start with the Habge tax .

First, there are two core rules for this tax:

1. Disclosure a price for privately owned property and submit a tax based on a certain percentage of the valuation each year;

2. Anyone in the market can purchase the property from you at the public price. The core checks and balances are: the price is higher, the tax pays more; if it is lower, others can easily buy your property. These two points force each rational person (assuming you don't want to pay more taxes, assuming you don't want to be bought easily) to a reasonable range of valuations.

It sounds simple, and there are all sorts of challenges in practice, so even though it has been discussed, there is never even a small scope that really goes into people's lives. The first point is that it is difficult to operate in the real economy: when a person has control over a physical item, it is difficult to let others "force buy" in the true sense. The second is that its value is not so intuitive, especially for assets that have been increased for a period of time before they can significantly increase their value. If the continuous investment makes the value of the asset increase, the annual increase in the price will make the tax higher, while others It can easily be bought from the developer in this process, which inevitably results in a decrease in investment income and a decrease in the initial investment willingness of potential developers.

Of course, its attractiveness is reflected in its improvement in the efficiency of resource allocation. Imagine, in today's population explosion and sharing economy, how many items are you really need to have real ownership rights. Are you willing to use the right to use only for a period of time? The "partial joint ownership" represented by the Habbo tax can be said to be a practice of "children only talk about choices, all adults must be" thinking.

The above background is intended to help you better understand our fork experiment based on This Art is Always on Sale – "A Billboard".

Why replace art with billboards?

First of all, the Habbo tax, in our opinion, is not so much a period of ownership, it is better to say that it is a right to use for a period of time . The tax paid by the artist for a period of time can be understood as the auctioneer's patronage for the artist, but the content can be changed at will during the period of possession of the billboard, which further embodies the “period of use”. Nature.

Second, the propagating attributes of billboards will introduce more attention to the system and explore broader social impacts. The value carried by the billboard will be based in part on its own flow, which is easier to evaluate than the price of the artwork.

Moreover, the essence of taxation should be to create value for a larger group . The billboard is that it can use its own flow to spread the value of information, so it is reasonable to levy taxes on the operation of the billboard itself.

About this billboard

"A Billboard" explores the issue of the right to use in a new way. The Ethereum network will confirm the scarcity of digital art ownership and define the ownership of economic and virtual content in a completely new way. Affected by the book Radical Markets, this work follows a slightly modified Haber's tax property system, which is taxed only by the operator of the work.

To participate in this experiment, you only need to:

1. Take a billboard based on the price defined by the previous buyer (initially 0)

2. Pre-store a certain amount of Ethereum as a deduction tax

3. Define the price for the next buyer

4. Feel free to change the content of the above text during the possession of the billboard. It can be a market forecast, or a confession, or even a haiku or poem that you want to share with you. 003

Through this experiment, we tried to ask the following questions:

How is the value of a billboard defined by the buyer, or how does the billboard owner price? Is it the value created by the above text itself (economic value and aesthetic art value), or is it a large flow of potential entry?

The possibility of a more flexible turnover rate offered by billboards, and the possibility that the creation of billboards is owned by more people, increases or decreases its value?

Such a platform, can it be a good choice for individuals who do not have IP to advertise in a specific time period, and become a real "one billboard"?

Does this billboard's permanently auctionable market system and the resulting speculative and price changes change the attitude of the creator itself, does it lower the threshold for creation (eg source of funding), or does it make people more cautious about investing? In the process of participation, can the identity of speculators and creators be distinguished?

Does this permanent auctionable billboard make people realize that all aspects of human life have subtly entered the process of continuous sale? Technically speaking, this work uses Ethereum smart contract technology, which is open source. It chooses the appropriate pass standard ERC721 to demonstrate and confirm the rights. The name of the billboard is called advertisement, referred to as ADS.
