Binance US hires ex-chief of US SEC enforcement to lead defense.

According to Bloomberg, Binance US has hired four lawyers from the law firm Milbank LLP, including George Canellos, former co-director of the enforcement division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Binance US is preparing to defend itself against accusations of operating an illegal securities exchange in the United States. Canellos is the global head of litigation and arbitration at Milbank, and has previously supervised around 1,300 lawyers at the SEC. Prior to this, he was in charge of the Major Crimes Unit at the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. The other three lawyers also have experience in handling criminal cases and bankruptcies.
