Introduction to Cascade: The First Interchain SVM Rollup Supporting IBC
Introducing Cascade: The First Interchain SVM Rollup with IBC SupportCascade is the first inter-chain SVM Rollup developed by Injective and Eclipse, allowing Solana developers to seamlessly deploy their contracts and dApps to Injective. Eclipse has published an article introducing the features of the IBC communication protocol and the working principle of Cascade.
IBC’s security model sets it apart from other communication solutions. Trust in IBC relies entirely on the correct execution of core protocols on each chain and accurate validation of data by light clients. No additional trust assumptions are required, even for relayers responsible for transmitting messages between chains. In other words, IBC is more decentralized and requires no trust assumptions beyond deployment.
Cascade is the first interchain SVM rollup developed by Injective and Eclipse. By allowing Solana developers to seamlessly deploy their contracts and dApps on Injective, Cascade expands the possibilities for cross-chain communication. Although Eclipse is not built on the Cosmos SDK, it has added IBC support. Cascade is currently running on the Injective testnet and plans to migrate to the mainnet in the near future.

We plan to launch a Proof of Authority (POA) Tendermint chain for each Eclipse Rollup, containing Merklized IBC states for each block on the original Rollup, enabling existing Tendermint light clients to seamlessly collaborate with Eclipse rollups. In the future, we will decentralize the validator set for each Tendermint chain so that different validator groups can confirm that state transitions are being calculated correctly.
