DBA Unity: Exploring Rollup Multiverse
DBA Unity: Rollup Multiverse ExplorationDBA联创Jon Charbonneau believes that there are many inaccurate and misleading understandings of the basic operation principles of rollups. The current framework is harmful to users and will soon undergo changes. The bridge is a crucial part of the working mechanism of rollups such as Optimism and Arbitrum, but it is not the rollup itself. In response to these insights, Jon Charbonneau has written a detailed exposition.
– Rollups can inherit the security of their underlying layer, whether or not they have bridges.
– Rollups are basically just some data outputs based on some data inputs that we publish on-chain (such as Ethereum).

– Bridges do not define a “specification” for rollups, as there is no globally absolute “specification” for rollups, but it is very important in cases where it controls bridged funds collateral, etc.
– Certain off-chain participants (such as the L1 bridging contract of a rollup or RWA issuers) have complete control over assets that cannot be forked without their permission. Entities that control these assets are economically important and can influence social consensus.
– Social consensus means that the community can always fork back to the native state of value obtained from the chain and the social consensus around it.
– Native-minted assets are safer than bridged-wrapped assets that are locked and minted.
– If you want to bridge, rollup bridges are better. Because sidechain bridges mean you have to trust the consensus of other chains, while rollup bridges can share the security of the main chain. 【Original text in English】
