Betting on Climate Change on Polymarket, Opponent Turns Out to be NASA Scientist

User X @ekrii3 on Polymarket decided to bet on “Climate Change” based on NASA’s report and discovered that the opponent is a NASA scientist.

The specific content of the betting market is: “If the global land-ocean temperature index data increases by 1.05°C or more when it is released in 2023, the side that buys Yes will win; otherwise, the side that buys NO will win.” The shares purchased by this user who bet against the NASA scientist in this market are on the “NO” side.

Interestingly, ekri shared that the decision to buy “NO” was based on NASA’s scientific report.

Later, someone in the comments posted a tweet from this scientist saying, “Check out her account.”

ekri replied, “Already following her.”

Speaking of NASA, a recent news about it has attracted wide attention from the crypto community.

NASA’s Artemis Program, True Crypto to the Moon

According to BBC Science Focus magazine, NASA plans to send a batch of data to the moon next year to test the possibility of backup storage at lunar bases in response to threats to Earth’s data security.

This mission is part of the Artemis program. NASA’s partners include Lonestar, a computational startup in Florida, and the autonomous British Crown Dependency of the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea.

Both parties hope to use blockchain technology to ensure data security, prevent tampering, and prove that the information in the archives is authentic. This will be the first time blockchain technology is used on the moon.

The test mission is scheduled to launch from the United States in February 2024. Future data centers may store more sensitive national data, including any cultural information and financial records related to human health, such as genomic data used for drug research.

Kurt Roosen, Head of Innovation at Digital Isle of Man, said in an interview with BBC Science Focus, “This is indeed an interesting challenge, not only for us but also for NASA.”

But you may ask, why do we need a lunar data center? Well, it’s not used to store extra photos when you run out of storage space on your phone. This mission aims to protect humanity’s most important discoveries and creations from the impact of Earth disasters.

What Polymarket Can You Bet on with NASA?

In addition to bringing you this little anecdote, Polymarket is also a noteworthy cryptocurrency platform.

Polymarket is a prediction market launched in 2021, and popular markets display major global events (such as the U.S. presidential election and COVID-19) and cryptocurrency trends (such as Bitcoin price and Ethereum upgrades).

If you have unique insights into something, you can try predicting the market on Polymarket. In this market, your perspective will be greatly amplified. You can learn the latest knowledge and understand the hottest events every day. And who knows, you might even make some money based on your understanding.

It’s not just about whether the founder of Curve will be liquidated. From the existence of aliens, the truth of room-temperature superconductors, to who will be the next US president, whether it’s Trump or Biden, and even predicting the price of Bitcoin, the first week sales of Travis Scott’s new album “Utopia,” and where Mbappé will transfer to, or even whether Twitter(X) will go bankrupt in 2023, Polymarket covers all these black swan events.

This interesting little event shows the encrypted community that a fair and open prediction market is a very attractive gameplay mechanism. Just as Mike from 1confirmation summed it up, “Polymarket can quickly create markets for hot topics such as culture, technology, and politics, attracting a diverse community. These community members not only have vitality but can also obtain a real barometer of emotions through Polymarket.”

The cryptocurrency-based prediction market is a way to combat the spread of incorrect or biased information in the media, providing economic incentives for people to seek the truth.

The era of mass adoption of prediction markets is coming. As the world becomes more interconnected and information spreads faster, there is a growing demand for reliable, community-driven platforms.”
