Overview of the first six investment projects of the Base Ecosystem Fund
Overview of first six Base Ecosystem Fund investment projectsAuthor: LianGuai0xjs
The Base Ecosystem Fund led by Coinbase Ventures aims to invest in next-generation blockchain projects based on Base. We received over 800 applications for the Base Ecosystem Fund, and on September 7th, the fund announced its first batch of six investments: Avantis, BSX, Onboard, OpenCover, LianGuairagraph, and Truflation.
Here is an overview of the first six projects:
Avantis
Avantis is a synthetic derivative protocol based on oracle, where users can trade cryptocurrencies and real-world assets with leverage of up to 100x, and earn profits by providing USDC liquidity as market makers. We like Avantis’ simple design (limited to USDC only) and their thoughtful risk management (grading and flexible locking).

- Nima Capital sells tokens and sells luxury homes, previously invested in these 16 projects.
- With 8 years of experience and managing over 540 million dollars, how does CoinFund, a cryptocurrency fund, choose its track and invest in projects?
BSX
BSX is building a decentralized limit order book for users to engage in leveraged long and short positions. We believe that on-chain trading should be supported by various market structures, whether it’s AMM, order books, or any other innovative structures. BSX combines the best features of CeFi trading experience (such as cross-collateralization, robust cross-margin, improved frontend, limit orders, etc.) with the best features of DeFi (such as self-custody directly on Base).
Onboard
Onboard provides an on-chain, self-custodial way for users to deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies through their own MPC wallets and smart contracts. This on-chain fiat-to-crypto method is crucial for developing more inclusive financial systems in developing countries, including Africa where Onboard is currently located.
OpenCover
OpenCover is the first L2 insurance aggregator that collaborates with insurers like Nexus Mutual to protect DeFi users from on-chain risks such as smart contract breaches and oracle failures. OpenCover also leads the way in providing on-chain insurance options for users during transactions, making on-chain risk management simple and affordable for everyone.
LianGuairagraph
LianGuairagraph is an on-chain creator platform that helps creators publish, share, and build businesses around their content, utilizing permissionless protocols to drive growth and revenue potential. LianGuairagraph leverages novel on-chain mechanisms such as allowing creators to turn posts into collectibles, sending news briefs to wallet addresses, achieving profitability through regular memberships, and building and nurturing their communities using decentralized social protocols (such as Farcaster, Lens, XMTP).
Truflation
Truflation is an on-chain financial oracle that provides automated and independent daily inflation reports (CPI) by aggregating real-time data from over 18 million data points and more than 40 sources. This is a significant improvement over the current method of monthly reports conducted only once since 1998.
